Safety in the Workplace

We take safety in the workplace

very seriously. We stock a

comprehensive range of Health

& Safety signs to help you

meet your legal obligations of

displaying the correct signage.

The Health and Safety (Safety Signs and
Signals) Regulations 1996 requires that
appropriate safety or warning signs must be
provided and maintained at work premises.

Every business is required to carry out
a risk assessment  of their premises and
that they display the relevant signs in
compliance with these fi ndings.

lives at work in Britain.

Did You Know?

Approximately 156,000 non-fatal
work injuries are reported every year.

Stay legal - fi re exit signs

Clearly identify escape routes to comply with current legislation. A personal

emergency egress plan may be needed for each disabled person within the

organisation. Those people who have a responsibility to assist in case of fi re

must know the details of the plan by heart.

To assess your requirement, walk along all possible emergency exit routes

from your premises. Note any changes in direction or fl oor level; at each of

these points you need to place a fi re exit sign indicating the direction that

should be taken. When people are out of your premises, they must know

where their emergency assembly point is.

Direction signs must by law include the running man symbol, be positioned

so as to indicate all escape routes and be large enough to be seen from the

furthest point within the room. Signage can be subject to change to ensure

compliance with any legislation changes and improvements.

Where work at height requirements cannot be eliminated, then the following

considerations should be taken into account
